However, her path took an unexpected turn when she became (or forced herself to become) the fiancée and bodyguard of Rax, a traveling draconic diplomat.At heart, Apoena is a brawler and adventurer, journeying across the world with Rax, whom she regards as both a mate and a best friend. She fiercely protects him with both her fists and her affection. Despite being the younger member of her party, she naturally assumes a big sister role, especially towards Gum, whom she treats as a younger sibling.When Apoena isn't assisting Rax, she seeks out adventuring gigs and explores new places, whether alone or with her band. What truly excites her, however, is a good brawl—whether sparring with friends or battling wild creatures. Once, in a fit of hungry frustration, she opened a hole in a tree with a drop kick.

Gum, the Machine Enthusiast

Gum, a merfolk from La Noscea, dedicated their life to discovering and repairing machines found along the sea and coast, spending hours in isolation to study and tinker. Their routine changed dramatically when a draconic diplomat visited their city.Surprisingly, Gum bonded well with the charming dragon boy, who took a keen interest in both Gum and their work. Hailing from a poor family, they lacked the resources for advanced tools or education. Rax, leveraging his position as a diplomat, became the merfolk's patron. This led to Gum traveling the world with the dragon, and, as bonus, gaining a new, overprotective "big sister" in the form of Apoena.With their two new favorite persons by their side, Gum feels ready to face the big world, until they become overwhelmed by interactions, people, and noise. Fortunately, the sea gremlin trusted headphones are always at hand to help them retreat into their own little world when needed.

Rax, the Crimson Mage

Rax’s journey to becoming a draconic diplomat was marked by profound loss and the resurgence of a long-dormant ancestry.His father died while attempting to escape Ishgard with Rax and his mother, fleeing from templars intent on ending the dragon boy’s life. As a Draconehsk—one born with draconic ancestry—Rax was hunted at a young age. After a narrow escape, the two of them settled in Gridania to rebuild their lives. Tragically, years later, Rax lost his mother, a devoted knight, in the Battle of Carteneau.Bahamuth’s influence would awaken his latent heritage, prompting Rax to move to Dravania under the guidance of a mysterious Red Mage who became his mentor. Following the end of the Dragonsong War, a need arose for a liaison between dragons and other races. Thus, the role of the Draconic Diplomat was born, and Rax began traveling, sharing his kindness with the world.
